Ben is a 15-year-old canoeist from Breaston who attends Friesland School and is a member of the Holme Pierrepoint Canoe Club. He has been selected onto the Central Region Super Regional Squad and raced at the European Championships in Slovenia alongside fellow ICON athlete Finn Reilly-McQueen. At the National Championships, he finished first in the C2, second in the C1 and third in the K1.
Ben says: "I am currently doing land based and water based training in the build-up for the winter training block at the end of the 2016 season. I currently run once a week as well as completing two to three gym sessions, six hours of white water paddling in multiple disciplines and one hour of physical flat water work.
"As for most sports men/women, the Olympic Games are always a great ambition to have and in my case it is the same. I strive to make the step up from being a junior international to an Under-23/steam member in my bid to achieve that.
"I would also like to maintain my place on the junior GB squad for as long as possible with my partner Finn Reilly-McQueen in C2 and to hopefully continue into under-23 and senior levels.
"I am aiming for the top 30 in the Premier Division by the end of 2017 season, to be in the top British C2 crew in 2017 to be British junior champions C2/K1 in 2017, to maintain our place on GB team and to strive towards representing GB in K1."
