The 13-year-old skier, from Chellaston and a student at Chellaston Academy, is a member of the England Moguls Academy, winning a bronze medal at the British Championships (half pipe) at under-16s level, finishing as fifth male overall.

James says: "To keep my skiing at a high standard I train three times per week, usually at Stoke Ski Centre, Chill Factore, Manchester and Snozone, Castleford.

"Once a month, I also train in Halifax with the British Freeski Camps. I will also be training on the mountain for both Moguls and Slopestyle, and spending approximately 10 weeks on the mountain this winter.

"Outside skiing I also need to ensure my fitness is at a high standard to avoid injury. To help with this I train once a week with a personal trainer and have regular trampoline sessions to help with my awareness in the air.

"This year I competed in my first European FIS Mogul Competition I was pleased to place ninth in the men, especially as I was the youngest by three years, and the other men all competed on the Europa Cup Circuit. I was also pleased to place second in the under-16s at the Scottish Slopestyle Championships.

"I am very proud to have been invited to the London Ski Show to compete in the London Ride, where I am listed in the publicity as an up-and-coming freestyle skier.

"My goals for this season are to improve in both slopestyle and moguls and work towards being selected to the GB Moguls and the National Academy for Slopestyle. My long term ambition is to represent my country."
