15-year-old Lauren, from Grassmoor, is a pupil at Mount St Mary's College and a member of Chesterfield & District AC. Lauren competes in the hammer throw. She won gold in the ESSA junior girl 3kg hammer with a championship best throw of 52.65m.
Lauren says: "My current training plan is based around my four main events: hurdles, hammer, javelin and pole vault. On a Monday I train at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield, where I start with a pole vault session followed by a hurdles session.
"On Tuesdays I train at my local track and take part in a sprint endurance session and circuit sessions. On Thursdays I practice my hammer and javelin. This includes technique practice as well as throwing both the three and four kilogram hammer.
"Saturdays are the hardest sessions of the week for me. These session are hills, and then we train at the gym.
"Next season my goals are to compete at the Sainsbury's School Games in the hammer and hopefully secure a place at the Home Internationals. Even though I will be one of the youngest competing, my aim is to place in the top two at the English schools Championships, ideally throwing 60m by the end of the season.
"Continuing to be inspired by London 2012, my long-term goal is to make it as a professional athlete and one day represent GB at the Olympic games."
