Sophie is a 19-year-old footballer from Newton who plays in goal for Birmingham City Ladies FC, helping them finish in the top half of the Women's Super League. She has also been selected for the England Under-20 and Under-23 women's squads, and in September attended a USA NTC World Cup Prep tournament in Los Angeles, playing against the USA, Brazil and South Korea.
Sophie says: "We have pitch sessions most days, and on a normal week have just Saturdays off, with a match on a Sunday. Alongside the pitch sessions we also have a gym programme that we complete twice a week, to improve strength and power.
"It is coming to the end of the season now and although we have exceeded expectations, we hoping to further improve next season, and attain a Champions league place and success in the FA Cup.
"In terms of international goals, I hope to be selected for the England senior squad again. In October 2016, I got my first international senior call-up, and being just 19, was the youngest player in the squad.
"My short term aim is to receive another call up, and although I know this will be very difficult with the calibre of players, I am willing to give it everything I have got.
"My long term ambitions include being a regular member of the senior squad, as well as playing in major competitions such as World Cups and European Championships. My domestic ambitions include winning the league title, the FA Cup and playing in the Champions League."
